App Store preview pipeline: keep real footage and required specifications aligned
An App Store preview is a release asset with technical and content constraints. A useful production pipeline starts from genuine application behavior and preserves traceability from a captured build to the final localized upload.
Separate review demos from marketing previews
A recording supplied to explain a feature to a reviewer serves a different purpose from a public App Store preview. Determine where each video will be used before designing the format. Verify the current specifications for that placement rather than reusing a social video preset. A beautifully composed device scene is not automatically an appropriate substitute for a requested direct demonstration of the app in use.
Capture the actual product state
Name the build, device or simulator, language and scenario for each recording. Remove test credentials and personal data from the visible interface. Use realistic sample content and avoid implying unavailable features. If the application changes after capture, identify which scenes became inaccurate. This is particularly important when a payment flow, consent screen or mode selector appears differently in the build being submitted.
Design a small scene system
Choose clear tasks that communicate the app’s value without overwhelming the viewer. Keep text legible at the final display size and leave room for localized strings. Reusing a visual system across languages saves work, but each locale still needs inspection for clipping and incorrect meaning. Maintain a source-to-output manifest so a revised scene can be regenerated without searching through unrelated media folders.
Validate technical outputs before uploading
Check dimensions, duration, codec, frame behavior and audio against the current placement rules. Inspect first and last frames as well as representative middle segments. A successful local export does not prove store processing will accept the asset. Upload a representative final file early enough to expose processing issues before producing a large localized batch with the same invalid settings.
Treat upload as a verified state
Track generated, uploaded, processing, ready and attached states separately. A request to create an asset is not proof that it is usable on the product page. Record the locale and placement for each final file and check for duplicates or stale variants. If uploads need to be serialized for reliability, make that an explicit workflow rather than an undocumented manual habit that cannot be resumed after interruption.
Preview handover checklist
- Associate every final file with a locale, placement, captured build and source recording so a future change can be traced.
- Inspect the asset after store processing and verify that it is attached to the intended version rather than merely present in a library.
- Archive the project and checksums in the agreed storage before removing local working copies to avoid turning cleanup into an accidental source loss.
Keep storage and handover practical
Archive source recordings, project configuration and final outputs with checksums in the agreed object store. Remove temporary local copies only after verifying the archive. StoreFront Studio is Arte Soft’s published reference for App Store asset work; the client’s release still needs its own compliance and processing checks. A delivery package should include the manifest, final assets, upload status and any placements that remain unverified, so a marketing handover does not accidentally become a false release-readiness claim.
