Hiring a SwiftUI developer without buying a screen rewrite

A SwiftUI project can look finished while its navigation, loading state and data ownership remain fragile. The right engagement improves the behavior of a product, whether that means a new feature or a carefully bounded migration. Replacing every existing screen is rarely an appropriate first requirement.

The decision to make

Begin by identifying the problem you want a SwiftUI developer to solve. Is the interface slow to change, difficult to test, inconsistent between devices or prone to losing edits? Those are different assignments. An attractive preview proves visual intent; it does not demonstrate behavior when a request finishes after the user has navigated elsewhere.

For an existing UIKit application, compare incremental integration with a rewrite. A new settings panel or standalone workflow may be isolated while the rest of the application stays stable. Mixed frameworks are a legitimate architecture when ownership boundaries are clear. A proposal should explain which layer owns navigation and the source of truth for editable data.

A useful scope of work

A focused scope includes a view and state inventory, dependency boundaries and one representative journey implemented end to end. Separate network work from view rendering. Define cancellation behavior, error presentation and how a draft survives a sheet closing or a scene becoming inactive. Avoid moving business rules into view bodies simply because a small demo permits it.

Design review should cover content density, Dynamic Type, keyboard interaction and the smaller supported screen before adding decorative motion. For a shared iPhone and iPad feature, specify which layout decisions are shared and which adapt. Agree how existing UIKit components, specialist editors or capture previews remain embedded without becoming an obstacle to later maintenance.

Acceptance checks to agree before delivery

A SwiftUI feature should be accepted through state transitions, not a gallery of previews. Watch the same draft as navigation, layout and asynchronous work change around it. The following checks focus on the boundaries most likely to create regressions when an attractive interface is connected to real services and persistent data.

  • Navigate away during loading and confirm that stale completion events do not overwrite another screen.
  • Change text size and device orientation without losing an unsaved draft or obscuring the primary action.
  • Reopen a dismissed sheet and verify that initialization and cancellation match the agreed product behavior.
  • Build from a fresh checkout and run the feature without undocumented singleton or preview-only dependencies.

Constraints and what to send us

Send the relevant screens, supported OS versions, current navigation structure and examples of bugs that prompted the work. Some newer SwiftUI APIs require availability handling; a new visual design must not silently raise the deployment target. A bounded integration spike is useful when the cost of retaining a specialist UIKit component is still uncertain.

Our own product reference and a starting engagement

SwiftUI feature development and incremental modernization. StoreFront Studio is an owned Apple-platform product with interactive design workflows. It provides a public reference for interface complexity, while the proposed work should still be accepted against your navigation, editing and recovery requirements rather than a generic portfolio resemblance.

StoreFront Studio is our own product or engineering project. It provides context for the work we discuss here; it is not a claim of identical results for every client deployment.
